4 months ago, while fishing silvers, I had seen the light! I mean the best smallest flash light that I have ever seen.

It is made by a company named "Princeton Tec". Once you see them, I guarantee you that you will soon own at lease one from here on out. I have already bought 6 of these little fantastic devils. I just can't seem to get enough of them! They are about 1¼ long by ¾ wide and are about a ¼ thick.

They use a L.E.D. bulb that is guaranteed for life (that in itself is worth having one). They only require two #2016 watch barriers (that's about the size of 2 dimes back to back). The L.E.D. bulbs come in 4 colors. They are red, white, blue, and green. The green colors appear to give off the most light for walking in the dark. The white color allows you to see the true color that you are looking at. The red color is also great for night use. The blue one is like they said; It is blue! My personal choice is the green one. You will not believe how bright they are for their size. Another real plus is that the light has over 11 hours of use time before the barriers burn out! What other light will do that? They are so small that you can put them on your fishing vest, jacket zipper or your keys and you won't even know that they are there.

They are priced at $10-12. If you decide to buy one, one would suggest that you buy the Pulsar II model. It has a little "on and off" switch built into it. You can either squeeze to make the come on temporarily, or use the switch to make the light say on the full time. I have never seen a more powerful light for its size.

They also make a full line of other flashlight models (lots of head lights). I also purchased the "Attitude" model ($20.95). It has THREE L.E.D. lights and uses 4 AAA barriers and is water proof up to 150M (that should take care of most fall-ins). What sold me on this one is the operating time. It will last for about 150+ hours of use. Can you believe that?

Neither of these lights is made or designed to illuminate more then about 15 to 20 feet away. When used closely, they do an incredible job of lighting. They are so bright that can be used to "flash" your glow corkies. Rather you hunt or fish, you will be impressed enough to buy one! Their uses are almost endless. There may be others out there that also make this product, but this is the only one that I know of who will pay the shipping cost when you place your order. The product can be viewed and order at http://www.backcountry-equipment.com/accessrs/lighting.html

I hope this fishing equipment tips benefits the other members of this board as much as it has done for me. Try it, you will love them too!

Thanks for the tip. Flashlights are like pocket knives and reading glasses, you can never have too many of them.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

cowfish,

These LED lights really are the ticket. Small, bright, and long lasting. Turn on a Mini-Mag and then drop it on your garage floor......poof. Turn on the LED flashlight and you can beat it on the ground without bulb failure. No filament = no problem.

Keep in mind, the colored LED's have much longer battery life than the white ones. The "white" LED has a tinge of blue to it, but man do they light things up. I've used mine to recharge glo-balls, to tie knots before daylight, and to walk down to that sweet spot before the crowd gets there. A must-have for your vest.

I hear ya, Cowlitz. That little Pulsar light is great. I've got one attached to my keyring. Another nice LED is the Petzl Tikka Headlamp. It's extremely lightweight. Great for camping or hiking around in the dark (think pre-dawn treks to that hike-in fishing hole). REI.com has 'em.

Thanks Cowlitz, I am going to have to get a few of those myself. Those things look small enough to have dangling of the vest without getting in the way. I always keep a small maglite on the dash of the sled, because I am alway in and out in the dark, when its on the trailer. These will be handy, see you on the Cowlitz, or the Columbia.

I also use these fantastic little lights, they provide superior light than that of regular incandescent flashlights in my opinion. They have less impact on your night vision and provide excellent contrast, which makes them perfect for that early morning stroll into the fishin' hole or for getting your gear ready while you are sitting in your boat in the dark preparing your gear for the days fishing.

There are several companies that make these little LED lights, and just about all of them are great. The red ones are handy for climbing in and out of deer stands without spooking critters. You can attach them to fanny pack zippers and key chains, so they are always handy.

We use them for charging up luminescent jig heads for walleye and crappie ice fishing. They do a great job on the luminescent corkies also. The blue one does the best job on chraging the phosphorescent paints used on jigs and corkies. Hope this helps you ou.

LED flashlights have been out for a couple years now but it's just recently that they've gone mainstream and, therefore, the price drops. They really are the best way to go for small flashlights and I've heard remarkable stories about the power of the larger ones. The price is definitely more than the cheapo bulb-based lights but for the quality and battery use (non-use?) they're worth it.

Last Christmas there were even LED Christmas lights for trees and outside decorating. Considering the drastic reduction in electricity use and the constant cool-to-the-touch that the LED's represent they seemed like a great way to go, and as the price continues to go down I can see bulbs getting pushed out.

Worst-case scenerio I can still use that long-handled MagLite that I have for a fish knocker. Of course, that's what I use it for now anyway, but I do on occasion use it to find stuff in the dark.
